Climate Neutrality by 2045 – Global Context and Impacts on Germany

The creation of the new special investment fund of € 500 billion after the German election 2025 contains the constitutional requirement (Article 143h of Germany's Basic Law) that climate protection investments funded by the special fund must serve the goal of climate neutrality by the year 2045. The discussion about this is just getting underway. To contribute to this debate the Clean Energy Forum (CEF) has prepared the impulse study "Climate Neutrality 2045 – Global Context and Impacts on Germany".

Our Soils: Carbon Storage or Carbon Source?

The conversion and expansion of the infrastructure required for the energy transition has special impacts for soils. How this influences the CO2 balance in particular is hardly discussed. This is surprising because soils store five times as much carbon as all above-ground biomass. On the other hand, there is no alternative to the climate targets and the energy transition.
